Surprised by how much I actually enjoyed Young Adult. Sans some of the cloying, much maligned Diablo Cody-isms, it’s a dark, unrepentent rejoinder to the Juno/adolescent fetish backlash. Like all of Reitman’s films, beautifully shot and well worth seeing Theron and Oswalt do solid work. Charlize Theron singing Teenage Fanclub FTW. Edit: And yes, the presence of both Patton Oswalt and Charlize Theron eating a KFC Famous Bowl in the film did not go unnoticed by the nerds at my screening who whispered “Famous Bowl!” with glee.
